He has a law degree from the "Faculdade de Direito da Universidade do Porto" and a postgraduate qualification in Public Procurement Law from the "Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa".
He is a member of the Portuguese "Ordem dos Advogados" (Bar Association) and is the founding lawyer of Marques|Barradas Advogados, a law firm based in Funchal, Madeira Island.
As a lawyer, he has represented companies and individual clients in various legal actions, mainly in the criminal, commercial and labour fields. In the area of sports law, he has represented several coaches and professional athletes in disputes before the Portuguese Football Federation, FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
He was a member of the Madeira Legislative Assembly from 2015 to 2019 and is currently leader of the "Funchal Sempre à Frente" municipal group in the Funchal Municipal Assembly.
He writes fortnightly for the Diário de Notícias da Madeira, is a resident commentator on the radio programme "Política 5.0" and writes for the online publication Lawinsport.com, which specializes in sports law.
